A well rounded knowledge of Torah is the foundation of becoming a true ben-Torah and eved Hashem. The Yeshiva provides a broad spectrum of learning opportunities that enable its talmidim to grow and develop. While the Yeshiva’s shiurim are given on a high level, the personal attention given will enable any student that has the dedication and thirst to learn to thrive in Maalot.
Iyun — עיון
The foundation of learning at Yeshivat Maalot is built on studying Gemara b’iyun. As in all classic yeshivot, the main focus is put on understanding the intricacies of the p’shat, the logic of the rishonim and the rationalization of the acharonim. The depth of the Gemara is uncovered through intensive chevrutot and high level shiurim. The Yeshiva helps each talmid sharpen his understanding to be able to explore the depths of Torah himself.
Bekiut — בקיאות
Each talmid is paired with an older chevruta; together they develop learning skills and gain a broader perspective of the masechet. They build a kesher of growth and limud, as they intertwine their souls with the words of the Gemara. The older chevruta also serves as a role model and an older brother for the younger talmid.
Emunah/Machshava — אמונה/מחשבה
It is not enough to have belief in Hashem- we must understand what we believe. The in-depth study of Emunah is a fundamental aspect of Torat Eretz Yisrael. Through the study of Midrash, the Kuzari, Maharal, Chasidut, and Harav Kook, talmidim build for themselves a rich spiritual world.
Halacha — הלכה
The yeshiva has a halacha program headed by Harav Yosef Yagoda, dayan in the Haifa Beit Din. Talmidim prepare for a weekly shiur on relevant halachic issues such as Shabbat, Chagim, Kashrut and others.
